City of Stanwood Biosolids Removal
The City of Stanwood retained RH2 to assist with a Biosolids Utilization Plan to update its storage of waste activated sludge procedures.
The plan characterized the biosolids as Class B biosolids based on laboratory results. It was also determined that the biosolids contained in Pond No. 2 needed to be removed and land applied for beneficial use at a permitted facility. The plan included a biosolids sampling protocol, estimation of the quantity of solids stored in both of the ponds, estimation of how often the solids will need to be removed, classification of the biosolids stored based on the lab analysis, and a preliminary cost estimate for removal and land application of the Pond No. 2 biosolids.
RH2 provided an analysis of short-term alternative locations to send the biosolids for beneficial use. RH2 assisted the city with questions while work was completed and worked closely with Ecology to address the concerns.
RH2 prepared bid documents for the removal of the biosolids in Pond No. 2 in 2009, and construction was completed the same year.r.
