Marina Pump Station Improvements, City of Port Orchard

The Marina Pump Station is Port Orchard's largest pump station and conveys all wastewater from the City's collection system to its treatment plant, so reliability was essential. Rebuilding the station on the waterfront meant working through sea-level rise, geotechnical conditions, an existing seawall, and an unusual wet well configuration. The team studied the wet well during predesign using physical hydrodynamic modeling. The rebuilt station includes three dry-pit pumps with a current capacity of 5,300 gpm and an ultimate build-out capacity of 8,500 gpm. The structure now sits three feet above forecasted flood levels, and new emergency storage holds 30 minutes of peak-day flow. RH2 stayed involved through construction, including evaluating deterioration in the existing wet well and developing a value-engineered rehabilitation approach. The project also reconnects the facility to the waterfront with a new pathway and viewing platform.
