Project Description
To support continued growth in the City of Happy Valley, Sunrise Water Authority constructed a new 3-million-gallon, partially buried prestressed concrete reservoir to provide safe, reliable water service to a mid-level pressure zone. The reservoir was built adjacent to an existing facility in a recently developed residential area, requiring careful consideration of community impacts.
RH2 worked closely with SWA to design a tank that balanced operational needs with neighborhood compatibility. The reservoir was partially buried so that only 2 to 3 feet of the structure is visible from most viewpoints, preserving surrounding views and minimizing visual impacts. Existing trees were retained where possible, and additional native landscaping was incorporated to maintain natural screening.
During construction, RH2 supported SWA’s proactive outreach efforts, including development of a Good Neighbor Plan to communicate schedules, impacts, and landscaping plans. The project was delivered on time and on budget using a competitive proposal alternative delivery method that reduced risk and accelerated delivery.
