Anatomy of an RH2 Employee
Updated: Sep 21

What makes someone an RH2 person?
There’s no single answer. Our people come from different disciplines, offices, backgrounds, and career paths, but look a little closer and you’ll find some common threads: curiosity, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, care for our communities, and an appreciation for the people we work with.
We’re invested in what we build.
We live in the neighborhoods and communities where we work, which means we have a vested interest in the success and longevity of our solutions. We care about our neighbors and the places we call home. The work we do across the Pacific Northwest becomes part of those places, too.
That investment extends to our coworkers and clients. As an employee-owned company, the people doing the work are also invested in RH2’s long-term success. It shapes how we think about our work, support one another, and make decisions that affect our clients and communities. Over time, that has built a group of long-tenured staff who carry those values right back into their work.
We get into the details.
The details are visible all around RH2. They’re on a whiteboard, in an Excel spreadsheet, or in a CAD drawing. Walk through the halls of any RH2 office and you’re likely to overhear someone discussing the nitty-gritty details of a project.
Our teams like solving problems, and that goes beyond our technical discipline groups. Sometimes it means thinking outside the box; sometimes it means digging further into the box to understand exactly what’s going on in there.
We ask questions. We believe in understanding the problem before proposing a solution and looking beyond the immediate challenge to understand what a client is really trying to accomplish.
We see projects through.
Our work doesn’t stop with a plan or design. RH2 employees plan, design, model, observe construction, and help clients navigate the full life cycle of their infrastructure.
We show up for testing, commissioning, and startup, and we’re there to help troubleshoot issues that arise. That gives our people the opportunity to understand not just their piece of a project, but how all the pieces work together.
Our relationships often continue well beyond project completion. We stay connected, help clients work through new questions or challenges, and bring that long-term understanding forward into future projects.
We care about the people behind the projects.
Engineering may be at the center of what we do, but our work has always been about people. That includes the people who work beside us every day, the clients we see at kickoff meetings, the partners we team with for project pursuits, the contractors who bring our designs to life, and the people who live and work near our projects.
We build relationships that extend beyond a single project and across disciplines and offices. And we like to have fun together. That fun helps build better working relationships and makes us more approachable, whether you’ve worked at RH2 for 20 years or are meeting us for the first time.
We bring different strengths to the same table.
There isn’t one path to becoming an RH2 employee, and there isn’t one personality, specialty, or career goal that defines our people. RH2 includes engineers, planners, scientists, technicians, communicators, administrators, and specialists working together, each bringing something different to the mix.

So really, the best way to describe the anatomy of an RH2 employee is that there isn’t a mold to fit. There are shared ways of thinking, working, learning, and caring about what we do, with plenty of room to bring your own strengths.
